Lansy Desk vs Otter.ai
Otter sends a notetaker into Zoom, Teams and Google Meet, and writes one summary per meeting. Lansy Desk records audio right on your computer — nobody new appears in the call — and a couple of minutes later every participant has their own agreements, tasks and deadlines.
Choose Lansy Desk if
- you don’t want a notetaker in calls with clients or candidates
- you need tasks for every participant, not one shared summary
- you want each employee’s skills tracked against your competency matrix
- UAE PDPL compliance and files on your own computer matter
- your team works on Linux as well as Windows and macOS
Otter may suit you if
- a notetaker in the call is fine, and you want live captions inside Zoom or Google Meet
- your meetings are in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese or Chinese
- you want an MCP server already on the free plan
- you record a lot from a phone and need iOS and Android apps

What really differs
An extra participant in a client call makes many people wary, and some companies ban recording bots outright. Renaming the bot does not remove it from the list. Lansy Desk takes audio from your computer, so nothing changes for the other side.
Otter writes one summary per meeting and shares it to a channel. Lansy Desk gives each participant their own agreements and tasks with an owner and a deadline, so nobody has to hunt for their part.
Otter’s coaching lives on Enterprise and is built around sales calls. Lansy Desk scores every meeting against your own competency matrix and keeps a skill profile for each employee.
Questions about Otter.ai
Can Otter record without a bot?
Its notetaker joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet to write the notes. An admin can change the notetaker’s name and image, but it still appears in the participant list. Otter also records in person through its mobile app. Lansy Desk never uses a bot — it takes audio from your computer in any call.
Does Otter transcribe Arabic?
Otter lists AI transcription in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese. Arabic is not on that list. If Arabic meetings are your main use case, ask us about your language mix before you choose either tool.
Otter has an MCP server too — what is the difference?
Both let an AI assistant read your meetings, and Otter includes its MCP server from the free plan. The difference is what sits behind it: Lansy Desk also scores every meeting against your competency matrix and gives each participant their own tasks, so the assistant answers from a record that already has owners and deadlines in it.
Is Otter’s free plan enough to try it properly?
It gives 300 transcription minutes a month, caps a single conversation at 30 minutes and keeps the 25 most recent conversations. Long client calls will not fit. Lansy Desk’s free plan gives 90 minutes a week.
