Comparison

Video analytics sees the queue. Lansy AI hears the conversation.

A camera system tells you how many people came in, where they stopped, how long they waited, and whether what happened at the till matches the transaction. It does not know what the employee said when the customer hesitated. That is where Lansy AI starts.

Different instruments

What does retail video analytics measure, and what does Lansy AI?

Video analytics is good at what a camera can see: traffic, movement, queues, cash. It covers the whole floor all day and never gets tired. The conversation at the counter is a blind spot by design, because the system works on picture, not sound. Lansy AI works only on the conversation and nothing else.

Side by side

How do video analytics and Lansy AI compare?

  • Data source

    Video analytics

Cameras, often with a link to the POS system

    Lansy AI

Only the conversation: a Lansy Pin on the employee, a wired mic at the counter, or your call recordings

  • What it measures

    Video analytics

Footfall, dwell time, heat maps, queue length, cash transactions, suspicious activity at the till

    Lansy AI

What the employee and the customer said, scored against your service standard stage by stage

  • Cameras

    Video analytics

The main source; usually the cameras you already have

    Lansy AI

Not used. Lansy AI does not take audio from cameras

  • The standard

    Video analytics

Thresholds and rules: queue over N people, a void without a manager, a zone left unattended

    Lansy AI

Your own criteria by stage: greeting, needs, offer, objection, close

  • Who reads the result

    Video analytics

The manager or the security team, through alerts and dashboards

    Lansy AI

The employee and the manager, the same review, about a minute after the conversation

  • The evidence

    Video analytics

A video clip of the moment

    Lansy AI

A quote with a timestamp; every conclusion can be opened and disputed

  • Where it fits

    Video analytics

Loss prevention, staffing by traffic, layout and promotions

    Lansy AI

Service quality, upsell, coaching of the people who talk to customers

Video analytics is described as a category, not a specific vendor; check the modules of the system you are considering.

What each sees

What does each system show?

A wide view of a bright shop floor with a short queue at the till, seen from above

Video analytics shows

  • How many people came in, where they walked, where they stopped, and for how long.
  • When the queue is longer than the rule allows, so a second till opens.
  • Whether what happened at the till matches the transaction, and where losses come from.
A pharmacist talks with a customer at a bright counter with a small device beside the card terminal

Lansy AI shows

  • At which stage the conversation went off course, and what the employee said when the customer doubted the price.
  • Which phrases work for the strongest colleagues, and what to say next time instead of the one that did not.
  • For the manager, the same review plus trends by employee, shift, and location.

The real difference

The camera shows where the sale stalled. The conversation shows why.

Video analytics will tell you that the queue at one till is longer on Thursday evenings and that the dwell time by the new display is short. Both are true and both are useful. Neither says why a customer who spent four minutes at the counter left without buying.

Lansy AI reviews that four-minute conversation: the customer asked about a size, the employee answered about a discount, the offer never came. The employee reads it about a minute later and answers the size question first with the next customer. The manager sees whether the whole shift does the same.

Why not sound from the cameras

Can CCTV cameras record audio in Dubai?

Many camera systems can record audio. In Dubai, the SIRA Preventative Systems Manual under Law No. 12 of 2016 prohibits installing and using cameras with a sound-capturing feature without SIRA’s approval. The logic is simple: a camera records everyone in the shop, all day, with no moment of consent. That is why Lansy AI does not treat a camera as an audio source.

Lansy AI records from a Lansy Pin on the employee or a wired mic at the counter, both sides agree before anything is recorded, either can withdraw at any time, and personal conversations are excluded from analysis. Recordings are stored in the UAE and processed in line with the UAE Data Protection Law (Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021); Saudi data stays in Saudi Arabia.

When video analytics is the better fit

When is video analytics the better fit?

If the problem is shrink at the till, staffing against traffic, or whether the new layout works, a camera system answers it and Lansy AI does not. The two run side by side without overlap: the camera watches the floor and the cash, Lansy AI reviews the conversation. Where you are choosing between them, Lansy AI is the choice when the question is what your people say to customers and how to make it better by the next shift.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

No. They look at different things. Video analytics measures traffic, queues, dwell time, and the till. Lansy AI reviews the content of the conversation between the employee and the customer. A chain that needs both runs both.
